If a company has access to a paperless direct debit facility then it can collect payments via any medium; particularly over the telephone and Internet. End users do not need to fill in forms so the sign up process couldn’t be simpler or more clear. All of this means that the company initiating the direct debit saves time and money on administration costs and is able to collect payments and accept business on a 24/7 basis.
Simply because there are no forms to fill out does not mean any of the advantages associated with direct debits are lost - they are still guaranteed under the indemnity scheme, they can be cancelled at any time and they still require advance notification that a given account will be debited.
